Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans
Day LA
Yesterday was our first Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day LA Picnic.
The day went very well and could not have been possible with the help and generous support of various individuals.
The Los Angeles Daily News sent Troy Anderson to cover the event and he spent hours interviewing Vietnam Veterans and others who were not. He provided a good perspective. Hans Gutknecht a Staff Photographer for the Daily News spent much time not only taking photos but getting to know some of the Vietnam Veterans.
Thank You both. Here is their story: http://www.dailynews.com/news/ci_12026514
Thank You to Mr. Frank Sheftel the owner of the Candy Factory and the TLC, the Toluca Lake Collective for his generous act in having the signs printed and covering the cost. Without his help this would not have been possible.
Thank You Bernard Peyton and Neilja Harewood of the California Center for Economic Initiatives in Compton, California for providing the chicken for the event.
Thank You to Jeffers Dodge, Pia and Tom from PopModal.com for conducting the interviews and soon to be posting them on the Web.
Thank you to Michael Higby (Mayor Sam Blog) for providing the goodies from KFC and honorable mention on your Blog.
Others on the Thank you list are Henry Valdez and Family from Arleta, Don and Prudy Shultz from Van Nuys, Mary Garcia from North Hollywood,
Jack Marino and his friend who provided the Pizzas and let us know more about his movie “Forgotten Heroes”. We look forward to working together.
Thank you to the Vietnam Veterans who attended.
As we move forward we will be announcing formation of Committees to prepare for a larger event next year.
From all of us at Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day LA, Thank You and Welcome Home!
